Age; 16
House; Freya.
Power; Power transfer.
Personality;
Despite her young age, Masako is a woman who gives off a haughty air. Coming from an immensely rich family, she has learned of the finer things in life and indulges herself in them. She'll look down upon those with less, as when she went into the Takakura household, she stated that it was a dump and didn't understand how it could be lived in. In addition, due to her grandfather's death and her subsequent promotion to president of Natsume Holdings, she is a skilled businesswoman. She described her grandfather as an excellent businessman, and emulates him in that fashion. Due to her high class upbringing, her speech is always formal and she holds herself properly.
She's shown to be quite clever, as she'll plan out exactly how to get things to benefit her, and most commonly how to hit two birds with one stone. She single-handedly manipulated Kanba's, her apparent infatuation's, ex-girlfriends to form a group against him, despite their uncertainty. Later, she blackmailed Kanba into following her, as well as getting half of a diary she was in need of from another girl at the same time. She seems to enjoy logic, setting up a maze for Kanba and saying that he was following Ariadne's thread. She was amused by the conflict in her life, laughing over how it was like a drama, showing that she enjoys literature or similar forms of entertainment.
However, in her plans, she does not seem to care much for others. She pushed one of Kanba's ex-girlfriends down an escalator in order to put her in the hospital, then caused her, and the other girls, to lose their memories of Kanba. She drugged, then kidnapped Kanba's brother from the hospital and threatened him until Kanba would come to her. In all of these situations, she does not seem to feel any remorse, however it should be noted that she does not inflict any serious harm on them. Her catchphrase is, "Gosh, I must crush them soon," which she'll mutter under her breath even in situations that don't seem to call for it, and changes the subject if questioned. It does capture her threatening behavior, though.
She does not accomplish what she wants through merely aggression, though. She is seemingly a convincing actor, as she pretended to care and have sympathy for the girls she manipulated in order to gain their trust, and it worked. Similarly, she often masquerades in order to access places she would not be able to. For example, she dressed as a nurse to get into the hospital, and as a housekeeper to get into a hotel with ease.
Masako is a person who is best with words, though, and she's not one to keep her opinion to herself. In addition to her aforementioned manipulative actions, she often uses her words to fight. She tends to be harsh and, once she knows a person's weak spot, she'll pick at it ruthlessly. She's a determined person to that end, and she'll thoroughly research her opponents beforehand in order to know what to mention. It's not only when fighting, though, and she's very blunt. She'll casually insult others and anything about them if she feels the need, and can be quite condescending. She feels her opinion holds high importance, and even once called into the news to broadcast her ideals.
While she seems like an immoral person, she holds her own standards. For example, murder is something that disgusts her. When she was young, she often had dreams of killing her grandfather in order to get her dad to come back, but she was scared of herself because she believed she might actually do it. When Kanba began killing people, she was frightened and couldn't believe what he was doing. She was devoted to saving her younger brother, but when faced with having to a join a terrorist organization in order to do so, she refused. And, although she admired her father dearly, she recognized what a terrible thing he had done by joining said terrorist group. Masako also commonly mentions that the world must be equal--as in, "brightness" and "darkness" must coexist. She believes that any light must come with a shadow, and any belief otherwise is foolish.
It's fairly obvious that Masako isn't a horribly social person. She seems to have no friends, and she's stated that the only person she trusts is her maid, Renjaku. She holds no faith in people, and knows that everyone, including her, would lie without a second thought. Even though she was so devoted to keeping her younger brother alive, she doubted the doctor who saved his life. Because of her life as a businesswoman, she says that the world is "dog eat hog" and is very unforgiving when it comes to errors in the workplace. She's closed off, due to her father leaving, her grandfather being a "failure as a human" in her own words, and her older brother being adopted into a new family, but that doesn't mean she can't love.
When she was a child, Masako was told to protect her little brother Mario by her father, and she has lived her life trying to do so. While information on Mario is limited, we know that he died at some point, and was revived only if Masako could obtain the Penguindrum (thought to be a diary). This is a large part of what drove Masako throughout the series, and she even told Kanba that she would fight him to save Mario. She knowingly ate poisoned blowfish so that Mario wouldn't have to, and was ready to die peacefully knowing she had protected Mario until the end. However, the person she loves the most isn't Mario, but Kanba.
Kanba has been her obsession since she was young, and she's never gotten over him. She pursues him throughout the series, despite his constant rejection, and loves him in a very unhealthy manner. She describes herself as a "love hunter" as, even though she acknowledges her feelings are one-sided, she's happy to "hunt" and chase after him. She forcefully kisses him, has her maid stalk him and give her updates on all the girls he's going out with, and even has a bust and portrait of him in her bedroom. She says that she feels, "True love that seeks naught in return." She believes that to properly hunt, both hunter and beast must be on equal footing, and since Kanba is her match (and vice-versa), their love is fate.
He's also her twin brother.
She loves him in both a romantic and familial fashion. While her familial love for him is foremost in her mind, the romantic is what she mostly shows outwardly. When they were young, he stayed with his father in order to give her and Mario a normal life, which caused her to become devoted to him as she believed he saved her from the "darkness". He also told her that he'd stay with her if she were cursed for all eternity, which she later took as a marriage proposal. Unfortunately for her, Kanba was adopted into a new family and fell in love with his fake little sister. Masako knows this, and this is why she tells Kanba she'd fight him to save Mario--if Mario were to die, she'd be alone, as Kanba didn't want to go back to her.
All that she's ever wanted is for Kanba to say that she's precious to him, and that he loves her, which was her last thought before she believed she would die. She truly loves him, despite his uncaring attitude toward her, and never stopped trying to get him off the wrong path. Once Kanba had shown her that he cared about her, by shielding her from gunfire, she gave up on saving Mario and put herself out as bait in order to give him time to escape.

Gosh, I must crush them soon.
It's certainly admirable that these gods have looked into each of us, is it not? Our placements are quite accurate, from what I've seen.
Freya, receiver of half the slain on the battlefield. But, gods, I had not fallen on my battlefield. It's unlike those of mythology to cut a tragedy so short.
Then again, it's a wonder that such powerful gods must call upon mortals for a menial task. Or, perhaps it's that these incarnations aren't quite what their names would imply.
Well, it shall be enjoyable to watch.
